1 The most significant are the UN conventions of December 9, 1948 regarding genocide and the Convention of 1968 regarding war crimes, crimes against humanity not becoming obsolete. The terminology itself originated from the Greek word genos, meaning kin, tribe and the Latin word occidere, to kill.
