Croatian exports growing

In the first four months of the year Croatia remained in the group of European Union countries with the highest, double-digit growth rates in exports of goods compared with the same period las year, the latest figures released by Eurostat on Monday indicate.

In the period from January to April, Croatia's total exports were up 10 percent on the year. Higher growth rates were recorded by Cyprus, 42%, Ireland, 21% and Malta, 20%, Eurostat's report shows.

Croatia's imports from other European Union member states rose by 8 percent in the first four months of the year.

The first estimate for the EU28 exports of goods in April 2015 was 155.4 billion euros, up by 12percent compared with April 2014 when it was 138.5 billion euros. Imports stood at 143.2 billion, up by 4 percent or 137.7 billion euros compared with April 2014.

As a result, the EU28 recorded a EUR 12.2 billion surplus in trade in goods in April 2015, compared with 800 million euros in April 2014. Intra-EU28 trade rose to 254.1 billion euros in April 2015, up by 4% on the year. (
